I have been checking price comparison sites every few months, as people may know I had the edf fiasco and now cannot get the online v5 package. I have spoken to ofgem who actually told me they supported the withdrawal of the product for new customers as it was unfair on other companies

With edf aside the company I am with now atlantic is consistently the cheapest and the cheapest to expensive is always the same order with roughly same differences in price as if a cartel is ongoing.

I also wonder why the price comparison sites need to know which company I am with etc. before listing the prices.

Have you not just answered your own question there?

They are comparison sites, in order to show you the cheapest tariff and how much they would save you they need to know what you are on in order to compare the two?

Sorry that tickled me-i've never known anyone state the obvious so straightforwardly as that. I stopped and thought about what the poster put but then thr latter response made me laugh!! I doubt the poster meant it to sound so dumb when asking the question tho-it's something I would say without thinking!!

Fairly bad deal for the company in last place if it is part of a cartel.
As most supplioers changed their prices 4 months ago, and the last of the big 6 this week, the order will have stayed the same as nothing has changed.

Depends how you see it I guess.

I see it as comparing prices between different companies, to do this they dont need to know who you currently with.

I see after the way you put it they see it to compare with your current supplier.
