Best Integrated Kitchen Appliances

I'm having a new kitchen fitted and need some wonderful advice. I hope people out there can help?
- What is the best overall brand for dishwasher, washer-dryer, hob, oven, fridge and freezer?
- Are there any good, free, impartial sites with decent reviews of appliances (I've found the usual comparison-type sites, like ciao, a bit naff)
- Any brands I should avoid?
I'm sure there have been millions of posts like this but finding it difficult to track answers to all my questions!

If money is no object then Miele. For something more reasonable look at Bosch, Neff, AEG, Seimens or John Lewis own brand.
We have been replacing recently with Bosch stuff and are pleased with it. I have just bought my daughter a new oven and we bought an Electrolux for £299 from JL, it seems solid enough and has a good range of functions.
My own oven is a 20 year old Miele, still going strong, it's the only Miele appliance I have (other than my vacuum cleaner).0 -
Trouble is, with a site with as many users as this one has you aren't really going to get advice about brands that will help much.
And I mean that in the nicest possible way
For example I could say I wouldn't recommend any other washing machine other than Zanussi but someone else could say they have had nothing but trouble with them and would steer well clear.
Do you see what I mean? Sorry this post is no help at all really but just wanted to warn you that you will probably be no nearer to choosing a brand in a weeks time than you are now once this thread gets going.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. Thanks for replying so quickly! I appreciate that individual experiences may not replicate common perception or independent testing but at the moment I am starting at a point of no knowledge or experience. That's why it would be so helpful to hear anyone's opinion - it doesn't mean I have to take it on face value but some opinion is better than none :j
Also, people might know of independent testing sites - I am sure there is something similar to Which? that's free but really don't know where to look!0 -
I hear ya!
Well, in our new house we have a DeLonghi oven and halogen hob, a Whirlpool dishwasher and I think its a Hotpoint under counter fridge. They came with the house and they seem ok (been here not quite 1 yr) I think our washing machine is a Beko and that too has been no trouble at all.
When we shop for new appliances (which isn't very often) we don't really think about what brand it is, price matters more to us. I don't like too many cycles on a washing machine or dishwasher either, I mean who needs a dial with 20 cycles

cant go wrong with buying from John Lewis, they offer good warranty's on all goods and back it up with great customer service.
pity the wife didn't follow my advice, we just bought a hotpoint built in cooker and gas hob, still waiting on delivery so cant comment on how good it is, i reckon it will be fine but as we got it from B&Q (JL didn't stock them
) im dreading anything going wrong with it lol, hope it turns up on time at least lol.
we have an LG washing machine, it was recommended to us by my dads m8 who fixes washing machine and most other white goods, he said that in all the years he has been doing it he has only ever fixed 1 LG machine, its been going fine for 2 years , its direct drive so the motor is attached to the drum (think all LG machines are this way), this means its very very quiet.
dont what every you do buy a hotpoint washing machine, the bearings on teh drums go on them , between friends and family iv seen a fare few fail due to that problem.
Our dishwasher is a hotpoint slimline though, great wee machine, very quite for a dishwasher, after 2 months the computer went on it, got it fixed within 2 days and been fine ever since (22 months)
fridge freezer is a hotpoint , its cold what more can i say lol
all were based on looks (wife decided lol) then energy rating next, all are AAA luckily

As someone said earlier....peoples' experiences differ. Though there are only 2 of us in our house, our Hotpoint washing machine is still going after ELEVEN years. Unfortunately, the door seal is now on its way out so it won't make it to twelve...0 -
firstly you dont mention budget or family size so opinions will vary on usage as well as perference and budget.
regarding washing machines there was a guy somewhere who worked on them, i cant remember where but he was saying that alot of the machines are similar in a range only the elctronics and features really change (ie main pump motor etc is the same), so the bottom of a range $300 (sorry us keyboard) washer would be better made than a top of the range $300 washer but with less "features", I dont know if its true but it sounded realistic.
might have been from here, has some good info and is worth a read

personally I would say get the largest one you can, as we are regretting only getting a 6kg machine now and we dont have any kids.
I think the rest is you get what you pay for, I personally have had the misfortune to have a dirt cheap baumatic oven and hob (plain electric) the last 2 years and when I move I intend to splash out on these items as I use them daily, I want an induction hob and a very good oven (one that may even cook in the indicated time on the packet). So I have mainly been looking at Siemens but would love Miele, however Smeg seem quite cheap for some of their hobs, so if you want bling without the huge price tag thoes could be a good choice.
regarding reviews, Which? is probably the bigest and best that I can think of, they are not free but I think a trial is 1 pound, which is not bad (no pun intended)0
