A friend at work has just recieved his first electricity bill, the problem is he as been living there for three years. He has been putting money to one side for the day they caught up with him,the man who read the meter said the units he had used were over 12000 on the meter. He has saved over £900 question is will this cover the bill.He lives on his own three beds with attic conversion.I reckon he will be short, anyone care to guess?

Assuming a standaing charge of £60 per year, his AVERAGE unit price over the past 36 months would need to be 6p to cover the bill with his £900...

    £60 standing charge x 3 years = £180
    £900-£180 = £720

    £720/12000 = 6p / KWh

If my maths isn't too rusty that is lol

 I have a poll / discussion on Economy 7 / 10 off-peak usage (as a % or total) and ways to improve it but I'm not allowed to link to it so have a look on the gas/elec forum if you would like to vote or discuss.

Provided your friend has not received a bill before, he need only pay for the past year.
Don't know the details, but a recent OFGEM regulation.

The 12 month thing is in, and they should abide by it.
However, it's not if you havn't recieved a bill, it's if they havn't sent one for the property. Bills in other peoples' names count, as do ones addressed to 'The Occupier'

Did you contact anyone to let them know you were in the new home, such as the energy suppliers?
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

I don't think that's correct. I'm pretty certain it's up to the new occupier to contact the energy supplier on the day they move in with meter readings and your details. At any point has your friend tried to contact the energy supplier?

The house was not lived in for around 10 years before he purchased it,total refurb job even the water had been disconnected,he says made a few phone calls to various energy providers but no one could say that they were the suppliers to his address. He is certain he has had no bills since he has been there.
