                                  in Credit cards

Yesterday I applied and was accepted for a Virgin credit card with the idea that I would use the cheques to do a super balance transfer.
While filing in the application I ticked the box saying no to any balance transfers as I do not have any debts on the cards except for one that I used for stoozing earlier this year. As soon as I pressed the send button I realised that this was probably the only way I was going to get the interest free cash. Am I correct ? and does anybody know a way round this please.

When you call to activate the card you'll be asked if you want to make any balance transfers.
Say "yes, from my current account please, but will it still be 0%".

Sorry to highjack this thread with a not entirely on topic question, but I know there are some threads somewhere (?!?) that show which Credit Cards will BT to a current account, anyone point me in the right direction as I can't find them anywhere

Super Balance Transfer (SBT) cards include Egg, Egg Money, and any card administered by MBNA (including the Virgin range of cards).
In addition, MINT periodically issue Credit Card Cheques that can be paid into a Current Account at Balance Transfer rates, although this is the least satisfactory option because you don't know precisely when the cheques will drop through your letterbox.0 -
See also http://www.stoozing.com/0fees.php, where SBT cards are denoted with a red marker.
In addition, it's possible to SBT via the M&S travellers cheque loophole, which will give you 6 months 0% for a 1% fee.0 -
when you get your card details and service your account online it will list balance transfer options so all is not lost, i've also noticed that if you do not immediately transfer balances the finish date for the 0% rolls along by 15 months, or at least mine does.0

you would be able to do balance transfers over the phone, as someone else said.

I ticked now to the balance transfer on Virgin purely as I did not have a figure ready. They called me to do a transfer.0

Hi, this isn't a reply to the previous thread, but more of a question regarding super transfers.
If I apply for CC with balance transfer options, can I list my wife's credit cards, or do they have to be in my name? Or..... can i request cheques from the onset???0 -

Yes you can transfer whoever's card you like to your own card, it can be your wife's, your parents, or just Dave from down the pub (he may even buy you a beer  )
However, please be aware that once the debt is transferred to your card, you then become solely responsible for paying that debt back - Dave could disappear to Cyprus and you would be left with the debt repayments.
Hope this helps.0 -
I always wondered if you could do that.0
