ISA Confusion

Hello there, I have just filled a Halifax direct saver ISA for 2007/2008. I was looking to get a better rate for this year's ISA, my Halifax accout says that I have £3600 left to invest however I didn't actually open an ISA for this year with them.
Q1. Do I need to close the Halifax ISA to open another one for this year (e.g. with Barclays), and if so what will happen to last year's?

Thanks,
Scott.

Any ISA you have either opened or paid into since Sunday will be for the April 08 - April 09 year, the last date for payment to the 07 08 year was Saturday.

Re reading your post I may be a little confused, if you made your payment to the Halifax no later than Saturday, then they are simply informing you that you can now invest this years allowance (£3600) with them if you wish. You can of course open one with whomever you wish, but they would rather you put it with them, naturally enough ;)
Hope for the best.....Plan for the worst!
