Acer Aspire laptop

hi, a friend has an Acer aspire 5050 laptop - it is 15 months old and has stopped working.

We have tried his power supply into another laptop and it works - and tried the power supply from another laptop into his machine with no result. So it looks like the laptop is at fault. Any suggestions (short of sending it back to Acer!).

Try removing the battery then running it just off the power supply.

sorted - had to have the input plug (on the laptop) replaced as the middle pin had broken. Thanks for suggestion though.
