But I have been turned down for accounts with credit scoring where all I want is online facilities to pay bills, no overdraft and a debit card and cheque book. THEN I CANT SPEND WHAT I DONT HAVE!!!
It's madness. No CCJ's but a few defaults for the next 6 years and no-one will touch me for allowing me to use my own money!
The reason you and the poster a few posts back get turned down for full facility current accounts is that you can go overdrawn even if you don't have an overdraft on the accounts. First of all, you are given a Meastro or a Visa Debit card which will probably have a cheque guarantee limit of £100. So depending on the size of the Cheque book you could go and spend either £2500 or £3000 tomorrow from the banks point of view. The second thing is that Meastro or Visa Debit cards can in some instances allow you to go overdrawn.0 -
I applied for a Premier Account at the weekend. Got turned down for the second time. Reason was 6 years ago I defaulted on my credit card and then paid it. I was a student and it took a few weeks to get a job. That was 6 years ago credit report says satisfied 2000. I am appealing but what is really stupid of them is they opened a basic account despite the fact I already have one and have had for 6 years - have run it perfectly as have I a credit card which they sent me 3 years ago when they turned me down for a premier account but sent me the credit card! I have £1,500 in a savings account of theirs. They do not look they put things in a computer and trust it to make a decision. Hoping their computer is articificially intelligent no doubt? All my views are just that and do not constitute legal advice in any way, shape or form.£2.00 savers club - £20.00 saved and banked (got a £2.00 pig and not counted the rest)Joined Store Cupboard Challenge]0
