Lloyds/TSB ISA's

Went to open Lloyd/TSB fixed rate mini cash ISA (can only be opened with with £9k plus) @ guaranteed rate of 6.5% for 1 year.....advertised as being available to May 31st.
Told today by guy in my local branch whilst opening my ISA, that this has now been moved forward to THIS Friday, 11th April, due to demand. So, if you were thinking of going for this one, speed is the word!!

Thanks for that. Their website still says 31/5/08 however.

I'm still waiting 37 days for mine to be transferred to LloydsTSB. It took 14 days for them to sent the letter to B&B, which then got lost in the post for about another 14 days! The cheque is now in limbo somewhere...

Will I be able to add this year's contribution after this new closing date I wonder?

Damnit. My fixed term ISA with Nationwide only matures on 20/4/08. Should I open the account with Lloyds first, and see if they can delay sending the transfer request to Nationwide until the 21st?

It occurred to me that now we pensioners can have a tax free income of £9000 (pensions, dividends etc) before we pay tax I don't need to chase ISA rates and can put spare cash in Kauthing Edge paying 6.5% with instant access. Other income comes from PEPS and ISA's held a long time and savings are paid Gross with the R85. A lot of pensioners do have incomes over £9000 but I imagine there are some who have not given this much thought. I should probably have put this somewhere else - sorry.

Just to politely point out that not all "we pensioners" can have a tax free income of £9000 - only if you are 65+.
    Good point though - thanks.

went to my lloyds tsb branch yesterday and came to the realisation that for the most part the staff havent a clue about the product/isas they are offering.i sorted my isa eventually butthe advice they gave was condradictory and sometimes wrong.in the end just bit the bullet and signed the transfer forms but for the time it runs and whether i,ll get 6.5% for 11/ 12 or 13 months will only be clear in time.whether i'll lose any days interest during the process seems a lottery also.worrying that i felt more confident from offerings fom people on here than the so called financial professionals. no wonder banks are in a mess at the minute!
