Shouldn't you just need a spliter at the TV aerial itself?

You won't need the return lead currently comming back from the SKY box.

Does the distribution box require a power supply? Which distribution box is it?
  • Why not just continue to use the Sky box with the cancelled card in it ? No expense of buying a freeview box then.

Like Hunnymonster says, your sky box and dish continue to work and your sky card becomes a freesat card http://www.freesatfromsky.co.uk/

Like others have said, I would just use your Sky box with the card in to get the Free to Air channels (that's what I do!).

However, if you also want Freeview (I have both for recording purposes) you need one with an RF modulator (not just pass-through which many are). Off the top of my head Pioneer do one, but I'm sure there are others available.

Its surprising how many people think they have to keep paying SKY just to be able to get the free channels.
    WHOOOOSHHHHHHHHH……..
    Blimey what was that ?
    That was your life mate
Oh I wasn’t quite ready can I have another go ?
Sorry mate only one per person.
  • Does anybody know of an option if you already have sky+ ?

I am thinking of cancelling my sky+ subscription as i generally watch the free channels anyway. The problem is,we use the recording facility everyday.

I will loose the EPG if i cancel sky+,so is there a way to still record?

Even though i now own the sky+ box,i have thought about selling it,and buying another Hard Disc Recorder, but how do these record without the EPG ? or if they do have the EPG,do you have to pay a subscription anyway?

We do love sky+,but we don't want to pay the £30 minimum per month.

You can cancel your Sky channels subscription, but to keep the plus bit working on freesat channels costs £10 per month.

You can get a separate HDD/DVD recorder with GuidePlus which is an 7-day EPG with the recording facility and will control your Sky box - Philips are the cheapest at the moment. The GuidePlus EPG is a free service once you've bought the equipment.

Or you could buy a terrestrial freeview PVR, lots of these on the market now and the freeview line up is quite good now, compared to freesat.

I cancelled my cable equivalent to Sky and got a Freeview box instead. Now all I pay is the TV license. Its a great way to save money.
