Does this provoke any response? M&S card in question. I emailed to close the account on friday 4/4/08 but have had no response yet. Does this get passed onto another customer ret department? Just that ive not had any corrospondance yet.
I came into this world with nothing and I'm gonna leave with nothing.

Why not ring them?
That way you can ask for written confirmation that the account has been closed.0 -
Not exactly giving them a lot of time are you?0

Good luck. It took me four months, telephone call, three letters and threatened them with FSO before they cancelled my &More card."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

I would follow it up with a telephone call in a few days, just to make sure the account has been closed - even if you do get a reply in the meantime.0

I closed mine by telephone on 0800 997996 (Chester usually), and they wrote to me confirming the closure a week or so later.
However, the settled status was taking an eternity to find it's way onto my credit reports.
I rang and was told by M&S that their policy on closures was to report the zero balance on the next CRA update, and record the settled status on the following monthly CRA update.
So, between 5 and 8 weeks for the card to be marked as settled with the CRA's.
Andy, just out of interest, was this by secure message or non-secure e-mail. If the latter, I wouldn't expect them to act on the request, but to contact you through other, more secure, means (eg letter to your registered address or call to your registered telephone number).0 -

I had an old Sainsburys card which I closed down last July and got a copy of my credit report last week and disovered it was not settled and I had £7000 available! I phoned up sainsburys and it turns out I still owed them 1p! They have wrote it off and marked it as £0 so hopefully this will mark my credit report as settled.0
