I have bought both Invesco Perpetual High Income and also I.P.Income ISAs. Neil Woodford , the manager of both of these has an excellent reputation. The other day I found a list I had kept in my favourites of the "top performing funds since 1990". He was on it of course but it was interesting reading all round and it looks like I have had this list for three years or so. It would be an interesting exercise checking to see if the same funds are still doing well.
All my funds, except one or two where a different discount broker was used, were bought through Hargreaves Lansdown. Apart from discounting the initial fee (i.e. with extra units) HL also give a small amount of their annual commission back. It's not much but better than nothing. I also have the Invesco Perpetual Income & Growth Investment Trust which has done very well.
Also, give some thought (if you buy one of these) to whether you want income or accummulation units. You can have the income paid out twice a year (check this, might be once). With accummulation units you will get extra units over time. Hope this helps.0 -

No. No point most of the time as fund supermarkets are generally the better option. I have used Inv Perp for unwrapped funds directly for smaller contributions (they go down to £20pm per fund for example). In those cases you accept an in-house range of funds.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0
