Budgeting Loan's

Hi, i have been on Income Support due to my partner leaving me, & i have to look after our toddler son and since newborn baby on my own.
I have applied for a budgeting loan to get some much needed furniture and clothes etc for my kids.

I sent my forms last Tuesday 1st April to the Jobcentre, how long does it normally take to hear back from them about a decision?

How long after hearing if i've got it or not, can you have payment. I dont have a bank at the moment for it to be paid into, can it get paid to someone else or can i have a giro for it? I just ticked the box which says i was going to open an account on the form but i have been turned down for an account since sending it off.

Sometimes it can be done the same day if you're prepared to hang around.

If you need a bank account, the basic Post Office current account is available to all x

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but since the govt decided to centralise everything it's been taking some Social Fund offices weeks to process them.

They'll only look at it urgently if it's a crisis loan application (and that's if you're lucky).

You have to have been in receipt of IS or income based JSA for 26 weeks to qualify for a BL.
I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog too!

You might be able to get a Community Care Grant which doesn't need to be repaid, but you'd have to stop the Budgetting Loan application to apply as they wouldn't pay both. I know of several cases where people have seperated and needed items the partner has taken like a bed, fridge, linen, washer etc that they've had a CCG granted for. Depends what you are applying for and why.

The CCGs seem to be coming through quicker in this area at the moment than budgetting loans, just helped with one for a care leaver which came through much quicker than a budgeting loan app which went in the same week.
One day I might be more organised...........

If they are paid by budgetting loans and she's repaying it, it's giving her and her children a break which for some on DLA can be a much needed break, she's paying it back, they don't need to provide receipts, I wouldn't be too bothered to be honest, not as if it's just a hand out.

Budgetting loans are from the DWP not from funds. Any queries you have should be taken up with the trust/fund involved. To be honest many grant £250-£300 for a holiday maximum, not everyone can afford the additional costs towards a holiday. Never underestimate how much extra it costs to have a child with special needs, I have 2 myself and my bank balance/debts definately show I do. Last week one door, 2 locks, 2 duvets and 3 bed sheets destroyed give you an idea? Then of course my washers on 3-4 times a day usually, the continence needs (they do get some provided but I have to provide the rest) £17 last week on hospital parking and petrol going to hospital.

Sorry OP that should have been a seperate topic and reply x
