Can anyone tell me what is the meaning of the term 'offers in the region of'? Does this generally mean the vendor is looking for offers above the specified amount or below? Can I generally offer less on a property marketed as 'offer in the region of' than I could on one with a specified 'asking price'? Sorry if there's an obvious answer, I'm just getting very confused with the whole house buying/selling thing! :confused:

    No obvious answer, it's just semantics. Different agents use different phrases.

    The rule is actually that regardless of what it says, you only ever offer what you feel comfortable with. Even if it said 'fixed price' I'd be offering lower if I felt it was worth lower.

    I would suggest it is often the EA's client (the seller) that dictates the phrases to use in some effort to try and get higher than what it is worth offers.
    A retired senior partner, in own agency, with 40 years experience in property sales & new build. In latter part of career specialising in commercial - mostly business sales.
