Car inspection
Options
I am considering buying a second hand Mondeo for £2500 (50k miles T reg) from a small independent second hand dealer. I am definitely going to get a Data Check on the car. Should I also get an independent mechanical inspection (i.e. from RAC) done?? Or does the value of the car relative to the cost of the inspection not make this worthwhile?

Firstly, I'd say the car is SERIOUSLY overpriced - whichever model/spec, it is.
You're not far off new shape cost - admitidley with much higher miles.
Rather than going for one of the specialist inspection firms, what about whoever does your MoT/service work, currently? You could ask them - if you've not got anyone, ask a friend that has a local garage for their work - then let him look after your new car for you.
