Do I need to chase up my solicitr if nothings happened by say 12?
How do you beat the last day jitters?

it wouldn't hurt to phone after 1pm if you've heard nothing as the solicitors involved try to aim for mid-morning but, bare in mind that the funds are transferred by the banks via telephonic transfer & can be any time up to 3.30 in the afternoon - it just depends how early the sols get their TT requests in at the bank - our sol was brill & he rang at 11.15 to say all done & instead of us having to visit his office to pick up a chq for the balance, he got 1 of his office staff to take it to our bank & deposit it for us
as for the jitters you'll be too busy last minute packing etc - or changing your address on-line to the numerous sites you subscribe to
don't forget to do your utility readings as soon as you get in the new place
best of luck & ENJOY IT0 -
If you want to play it safe give the estate agent and the solicitor a ring today to double check that everything is OK, then you have time today to chase. The estate agents tend to be quite helpful as completion means they get their money too.
I assume you've already exchanged contracts.
Also ask what the arrangements are for collecting keys. Keys aren't handed over until the money transfers are complete. Sometimes there are delays in the cash moving, and lunchtime is a pest, because people have lunch so sometimes nothing happens for a while.
Normally you'll get a phone call from the solicitor/estate agent or both saying you can have the keys. The call comes through when the funds reach the sellers accounts/solicitor not yours.
Hope everything goes smoothly.
P.S. I'm not a legal person, so this is just based on lots of house moves!!0 -
congratulations hope you enjoy your new home and welcome to the delightful (?) world of owning property!!
I would second what people above have said, give estate agents and solicitor a call today just t check there hasnt been any last minute hitches, if there havent get on with packing and getting everything ready for your new house tomorrow. Let us know how it goes, so make sure one of the first things you sort out is your internet access!!!0 -

Yeah my internet has been a bit of a disaster really, I have to cancel my contract pay a fee for cancelling early, then re apply to get my fee refunded!!!!
Oh well just another stress to contend with i suppose0 -
The next thing you need to do is to have a few beers then take off all your clothes and go outside and do a sundance.
This will guarantee that your move-in day will be dry and sunny!!!!!!!!!!
Good luck in your new home.0 -
