Bank account for unemployed?

Hi, I do not work at the moment but want to open a paypal account so that I can commence selling on ebay. I do not want to use my present account for paypal and do not trust internet banking. Does anyone know of bank where I could open a current bank account without having a wage paid into it?

why not go for just a basic account such as Natwest Step account or Halifax Easycash. All banks offer these accounts they just don't make them very public.

Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

If you are only selling on eBay and not buying, then you can get any account. Withdrawing money from PayPal into your current account (bank account) only requires your Account Number and Sort Code. You only need your card number, expiry date, last 3 digits on signature strip when you are making a payment from your bank account.

Any bank will give you a basic bank account. Some may even give you an account with Visa Debit or Solo card. I'd go with Lloyds TSB, Barclays or Natwest. Either of these banks will give you a current account/basic bank account.

Also, for all the people that are saying ''you don't trust Internet Banking but trust PayPal'', well if all you are doing is selling on eBay, you cannot easily be scammed. Like I said before, as long as you only add a bank account to your PayPal account and not a credit/debit card, then noone can take any money from your bank account. They can however take money from your paypal account in the unlikely event that they get access to it, however this can easily be solved by withdrawing any money from paypal to your bank account quickly.
