Name Change (PayPal)

Hi
I can't find where abouts on the site to change my name on PayPal to my new married name. I have added my new card, but now need to change the name of the paypal account holder, and my bank account name.
Can someone please help?

Congratulations. Log in to Paypal > Click on PROFILE > Under Account Information click on Personal/Business Information > Click on EDIT at the bottom of the page to change your details. They will need some proof from you.

I had to change to my married name a couple of weeks ago- i've been putting it off but my card ran out and I couldn't add a new one with my new name.

You have to fill in a form and fax it over with your details, proof of id, proof of address and your wedding document showing name change. Also takes about 2-3 weeks before anything actually gets changed.

If you search 'Change of name' the first 'contact us' link is the one you need. It'll take you onto the fax form.

I got married about 4 years ago so the system may well have changed since then BUT... I phoned them up because I wasn't happy about the amount of proof of ID they required (eg 3 months bank statements!! That's just nosey IMO) and I didn't think it was safe to send it all via fax. The man on the phone told me that I could avoid all the hassle by simply opening a new account in my new name! So that's what I did.

You do need a new email address and you will have to get confirmed again, but it's still much easier. And if you open the new account as a non-premier account to begin with you can transfer any remaining funds over from your old account by sending yourself a payment.

but then you would get charged for recieving the money out of one account to the other, so yet again lumbered with more fees, Surely if there is any money in the paypal account it would be easier to open up a new one as said but withdraw anything in the old one and start again fresh?

Thanks people. Ah god what a total mission! It was easier to change my name on my bank account! I just showed them my certificate and signed something and that was it! lol.

I'm thinkin it will be easier to open a new one, as I have a new email addy too, so guess i can use that. Was wondering how long it takes to get verified? as i don't remember... I opened my paypal account about 3 years ago. I sell about 30-40 items a week, so I need to get it sorted soon or i will have problems!

Another question... now I have changed my name on my bank.. will paypal work okay? as that is still in my maiden name... will it not clash with my bank name?? (if that makes sense) I just dont want any payments to bounce. Thanks :o:o
