Is there any way we can get any better flight deals?? Or is this the norm for the summer?Have never been to Spain before, and have found a few apartments on holiday lets near Alicante so just need flights! We are willing to fly from any london airports, manchester, the north east, and the midlands.
Thanks for any help whatoever! :money:

    Hi there
try ryanair or flyglobespan or www.airflights.co.uk
this is the sites i usually use however if you are flexible and can travel to glasgow airport i have had good deals to all destinations in the past in the 6 weeks holidays as scotland break up much earlier than us so if you go around 10th aug onwards they usually have lots of empty seats to fill and if you live in the north east it only takes the same time as it does to midlands airports
  • Hey

Try skyscanner, this will allow you to adjust your search criteria to find the cheapest flights within your dates and check various airlines. You can change your departure/arrival airport or leave open to bag a real bargain!

    Good Luck :rotfl:
  • Ooops should have included a link.....

    www.skyscanner.net

new to this but will get the hang of it!

If you are hiring a car and don't mind adding a couple of hours to your journey, you could try Murcia or Valencia airports. I frequently fly to Spain, and fly to either Alicante or Valencia, whichever is cheaper - which is usually Valencia. Driving from Valencia to Alicante on the motorway takes roughly 2 hours. You could also consider looking for accommodation further up the coast towards Valencia - places like Altea and Javea perhaps.

Another tip is not to look for return flights, but to treat each leg separately. For example, you might find a cheap outgoing flight to Valencia and a cheap return flight from Alicante. It's not difficult to find a car hire firm that will do collection from Valencia and return to Alicante (I normally use www.carjet.com). The same goes for UK airports, but if you are planning to leave a car at the airport car park this obviously won't be an option. However, if you're talking about very high prices like £800, it might be cheaper for you to use different UK airports for the outward and return journeys and travel to and from the airports by public transport and/or taxi. It's not uncommon for me to do something like Coventry to Alicante (ThomsonFly) then returning Valencia to Stansted (Ryanair). The important thing is to consider the TOTAL price, including transport to and from the airports, car parking costs etc etc and then decide which option is best. It can take a long time to search for the best flights but you can save a lot of money if you do it right.

I usually find the cheapest flights are with Ryanair. I have also found some good deals with ThomsonFly, especially from Coventry airport (they used to fly to both Alicante and Valencia but now only fly to Alicante). I occasionally use EasyJet.

    Thanks for that brilliant advice!
If I can get the flights down to 600 it would be great.

I don't know if you've already booked accommodation but if not why not try leaving it till much nearer the time and book charter flights instead of budget/scheduled? If you're specific about where you want to go you might not want to risk it but we've been to Javea and flown to Alicante several times over the last 4 to 5 years and (apart from our last one last week which was with Ryanair to Valencia) these have always been through thomas Cook, Airtours, Mytravel etc. We don't usually pay much over £100 each and the best one was last August from Leeds/Bradford which is 10 minutes away from us for £94 each. Now that thomas Cook have merged with Mytravel there won't be as much choice but you can usually get a cheapish flight somewhere if you're flexible on exact location and dates
