I have may laptop connected to my wireless router, after about half an hour its like the laptop looses the wireless connection and the only way i have fund so far to solve it is to repair the connection but this onyl works for half an hour and i then have to repair it again, ive setup the wireless connection again as i thought id missed something but it still happened, the router is a few metres from the laptop so the distance isnt the issue and there isnt any obstructions either, its funny as i have my 360 connected by wireless to the router and i dont experience any problems when im on that, to solve it ive changed the channel as i had read electrical products can affect the signal but it didnt last very long, ill try a new channel, post if you have any ideas which i could have a look at, it wouldnt be the router isnt powerful enough to broadcast the signal (the router speed is 54mbps), the router is a netgear wgr614,
sorry for going on but its getting a tad annoying

If it's WPA you're using as security, it sounds like the laptop isn't getting the new WPA key. Try updating the wifi drivers on the laptop.0

That is a ridiculous statement to make! Channel 11 is a default channel used by many different router manufacturers.
It depends entirely on the channels actually in use in your location. If interference is a problem, a channel as far away from any channels in use need to be selected. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
if the laptop is running software requiring many concurrent connections (peer2peer software (torrents, bbc iplayer etc?)) some routers (my old (binned) dlink for one) just don't like it, updating firmware or getting a new router are the solutions.
another possibility would be a dns caching issue, in which case the solution would be to change to connection type from automatic to manual, and input your dns servers addresses (or ideally opendns servers)Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0 -
