Reclaiming bank charges whilst living abroad

We are currently living in Canada, on a work permit. We have read all of Martins's information and numerous threads regarding claiming back bank and credit card charges and out question is; Does it hinder or change the process and / or outcome of claiming back these charges for us as we are living outside of the UK?
Many thanks in advance for any replies.

Hi, I don't know the definitive answer but I can tell you that I have been living in the US for four years and I still put my claim in. )Abbey National have my registered address as my US address). Unfortunately I timed it just when they announced a hold on it all, but I'm still hopeful that if it goes ahead I will be ok, despite living abroad. The bigger concern previously was that they were making people go to court over this, and of course unless I was given substantial notice of this I would not be able to be present, and of course, the trip itself might negate any reclaimed charges. I say go for it, what have you go to lose?0
