Hi All,
I'm not the techiest person in the world, but I've read all the articles and posts I could find about external hard drives (and USB drives, as I was originally going to buy one of those to back up)
I gather that Western Digital and Maxtor get mixed reviews, but how about this one: Toshiba 320 GB for £54.99 (plus apparently quidco cashback and discounts if you sign up for their newsletter)
http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?ModuleNo=223799&doy=7m4
I'd like advice on whether this is a good price and how reliable this drive is?
Also, are there speed issues?
Thanks,
Jo xx

No speed issues as speed is governed by many factors not just the drives speed .
Toshiba as far as i am aware do not make a hard drive just the USB enclosure .
Price seems good .
All drive manufactured these days are reliable though their is variation model to model .
Basic principal of hard drive reliability is that they all will fail at some time .

I have one of these drives which i purchased from a large Pc retailer around a year ago. The drive is Usb 2.0 and the only speed issues I encounter is when I back up large files >4 Gb.I find i have to wait a few minutes. Had no real issues with it apart from this. Hope this helps!£2008 in 20080
