Stolen money (skimmed)

On midlands today news program there was a warning put out about card cloning in Hereford at ATM's, it now turns out my son was a victim and found that £250 had been withdrawn from a bank in Smethwick (he lives in Hereford)the moment he realised this he was on the phone to the Nationwide (the theft was spotted whilst looking at his account online) as he was speaking to an operator he refreshed the page and noticed that another £50 had been taken out this time from a atm in Rugby.
Nationwide have assured him that the money will be returned but he will have to wait for a new card and pin,he was told this whilst on the phone,do you think they may just fob him off or should there be a procedure he should follow to get his money back?
My thinking is they will try to blame him.

what a fair minded chap you are
why do you think nationwide will try to cheat your son?
he needs to get a form and complete the details of the fraudulent withdrawals... he will probably need to go into a branch.0 -
They told him the money will be returned... I don't see why you think they would now turn round and tell him, 'actually, we won't give you a refund, sorry!'.
I think he's followed the general procedure already...0 -
the reason i asked this question is because they asked him if somebody he knew had his card & pin, putting the emphasis back on him. it's all very well an operator in a call centre telling him "don't worry you will get your money back" but banks still seem to think that chip and pin is secure, regardless of what joe public and fraud experts say0

Someones being economical with truth.
You're not supposed to be able to use a cloned card with a PIN at banks own ATM'S in the UK.
I hope Nationwide cough up.
But be aware - Banks Refuse Valid Card Fraud Claims.
