Refused a Credit Card

in Credit cards
Hi! New to this so please be gentle.
I have a good credit rating, home owner, no missed payments, never refused in the past etc.
I tried to open a new Virgin money card to transfer a balance from my MBNA platinum. they refused me, and i was told that this was because they also process the cards for Virgin money. I then tried Barclaycard and was again refused. Have i suddenly gone from a good prospect to a bad one and can anything be done? will i make matters worse by keeping on trying?

Yes and no!
Barclaycard are now only accepting A1 credit customers. At this time they want no rubbish (not implying that you are of course) because of the credit crunch.
Get a copy of your credit files from someone like Experian - just in case there is a nasty on there.
You say that you are a houseowner - have you tried the bank or building society where your mortgage is with?
They will be able to tell you if you would be accepted without the need for an initial credit score (they would score you if you decide to apply).0 -

This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0 -
