Servis dishwasher not emptying... help!

We inherited a Servis dishwasher that came with the house. It seems to work OK but then sometimes it won't get rid of the water when it's finished. There's about 1-2 cms of soapy water at the bottom. There was no dishwasher salt in the machine for the first 10 times we used it as I've never owned one before and didn't get any instructions. I've now topped up the salt (with special salt) in the resevoir and I've checked the filter and there are no obstructions. When I take it out the water still doesn't drain.
When I put on a wash there is always the same level of water in the dishwasher. At one point the dishwasher was advanced while doing a program by turning the program selector. Could this have caused damage?
Any ideas?
Cheers, Chris.

...does it pump out ... after PREWASH ...or @ any time during the program-cycle ..?
if so ...
Your waste water 'pipe' / tubing ... should be raised 'of the floor' about 50-60 cm off the floor ... (tie it with some string to the top)
This would resolve the 'waste water' from running - retour... BACK into your machine ...0 -
We used to have the same sorta problem and I was simply opening the dishwasher before cycle had properly finished ! Try a `rinse` or `quick wash` cycle and see if this drains it off . . . . You never know your luck ?I`m now officially too old to die young0
