My brother had the same problem trying to use a gift voucher I gave him on orange 2-4-1. I emailed/contacted them on his behalf and he received an apology and 2 free tickets.

    I'll dig out the email.......

I think I contacted them via the "contact us" page : http://www.odeon.co.uk/fanatic/contact_us/

    Here's what I sent:
I went to my Local Odeon tonight (LOCATION) to watch a film with my partner.

I offered an Odeon seat voucher, along with an Orange Wednesday code for two tickets but was told I could not use the Orange Wednesday code and voucher and would have to pay.

In the end I had to pay which I do not agree with. I should be entitled to a free seat under the Orange Wednesday (241) offer when I pay for another. The fact I pay for this seat by means of a voucher I believe, is irrelevant.

I can understand not combining two "offers" but this (voucher) was not an offer. Please clarify this.

I can see no point to buying a cinema ticket voucher if it is more restrictive than the more traditional cash (which can also be used at other cinema chains).
...and I received the following reply - however this was from the manager of the actual cinema (HO had just forwarded my concern & asked to be copied on the reply).
    Dear Mr NAME,

With regard to your email about your visit to this cinema last night.

Firstly, please accept my most sincere apologises [sic] about the confusion regarding the "Odeon Seat Voucher & "Orange Wednesday".

You are correct & you should of [sic] been able to use both the voucher & the free Orange ticket - and I will be speaking to the team members on duty last night to find out why you were told you could not.

I would be grateful if you could email me your address so that I can send out two Guest tickets for you to use at this or any other Odeon cinema.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

    Kind Regards,

    NAME
    General Manager
If you pm me your email address I don't mind forwarding this on to you.

    Any update?
  • I am a manager at an ODEON Cinema in the UK. I would just like to defend ODEON against some of the remarks from everyone on this posting!

As far as i know, there is no company reason why we should not accept a gift voucher in conjunction with any other offer. I find it strange that there was such a fuss made about it. The fact behind it is the cinema doesn't make any money until the voucher is used or redeemed! So in my cinema this would never have been refused and i should hope it would be the same in other ODEON cinemas. I will contact the cinema in question to ensure this does not happen again.

You mentioned 'bad customer service all round' was this true? did you find all the staff rude and unhelpful throughout the cinema? did you not like the seating? did you not like the food? I think your remark was unfair as by the sounds of it the only problem you had was with the voucher at the box office; although this should never have happened in the first place i would hope the service throughout the cinema was premium.

But, you are right and i am pleased that they eventually came to their senses, though you did say ' i paid for the voucher fair and square' why did you buy a voucher to use yourself and not use cash? Normally vouchers are purchased as a gift for another person, seems a bit senseless to purchase a voucher for yourself and use it instead of cash!

Finally, I think there was some mix-up and you were just unlucky, i hope this doesn't happen elsewhere. In terms of complaining, if you still feel you want to, you can call the freephone booking line number 0800 138 3315 and get through to an operator who can take your complaint and pass it on to the relevant department for review or you can go on the ODEON website (https://www.odeon.co.uk) and click 'contact us' in the top right hand corner of the webpage, this gives you the facility to email any ODEON cinema about anything you like! What a good service!

Absolute hogwash! Who gets the money then if you don't make any money until the voucher is redeemed? Surely it's the other way around - if someone cannot redeem a voucher then you have the money and don't need to offer a seat in exchange. I appreciate you are attempting to resolve this problem for the OP, but this does not make you look any better. Unless there is something I am missing here, this looks like protesting too much...

I had the same issue yesterday. Have emailed Odeon as above. Will update when/if I hear back.
