Went to ASDA today and went mad in the WHOOOPS!!!! fridge.
I've got 2 Haddock Fillets
2 Venison Steaks
2 Smoked/Dyed Haddock Fillets
2 Dyed Cod Fillets
6 Vacu-Pak Sirloin Steaks
250g Steak Mince
Spent less than a tenner on this.
It's all in the freezer now, but I need a good recipe for the Venison, and I want to do something different with the fish (Not just fry it in the griddle as I always do)
Any help appreciated.

smoked haddock makes a fish pie more interesting - you could mix it with the ordinary haddock.
or kedgeree is nice - boiled egg, rice, smoked haddock and cream (or i've used yoghurt)
OH cooked venison the other day but I'm not sure how he did it...I think he just treated it like lamb but I could be wrong!weaving through the chaos...0 -

This (smoked haddock gratin) is REALLY delicious. I serve it with green veg or sometimes just good crusty bread. I tried it with cod too and it's good.0

i usually cut my fish into 1cm chunks. dip in beaten egg, then into cornmeal with a little paprika and cook on a baking tray in the oven for around 8mins. My ds loves them too-i find them a great alternative to shop bought fish fingers. i serve them with sweet pot wedges and creme fraiche.yum yum.xx0

I must admit I'm not a huge fan of fish, but I do like the smoked fish poached in a little milk.
I'd make cottage pie with the mince, because that's my favourite.0 -

jamies fantstic fish pie, i use any fish in mine
6 large potatoes, peeled and diced into 1-inch squares
salt and freshly ground black pepper
2 free-range eggs
2 large handfuls fresh spinach, trimmed and washed
1 onion, finely chopped
1 carrot, halved and finely chopped
Extra-virgin olive oil
1/2 pint double cream
2 good handfuls grated mature Cheddar or Parmesan
juice of 1 lemon
1 heaped teaspoon English mustard
1 large handful flat-leaf parsley, finely chopped
455gr/1 lb haddock or fresh cod fillet, skin removed, pin-boned and sliced into strips
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Nutmeg, optional
Preheat the oven to 230C/450F/gas6.
Put the potatoes into salted boiling water and bring back to a boil for 2 minutes. Carefully add the eggs to the pan and cook for a further 8 minutes until hard boiled, by which time the potatoes should also be cooked. At the same time, steam the spinach in a colander above the pan. This will only take a minute. When the spinach is done, remove from the colander and gently squeeze any excess moisture away. Then drain the potatoes in the colander. Remove the eggs, cool under cold water, then peel and quarter them. Place to one side.
In a separate pan slowly fry the onion and carrot in a little olive oil for about 5 minutes, then add the double cream, and bring just to a boil. Remove from the heat and add the cheese, lemon juice, mustard, and parsley.
Put the spinach, fish and eggs into an appropriately sized earthenware dish and mix together, pouring over the creamy vegetable sauce. The cooked potatoes should be drained and mashed, add a bit of olive oil, salt, pepper, and a touch of nutmeg, if you like. Spread on top of the fish. Don't bother piping it to make it look pretty, it's a homely hearty thing. Place in the oven for about 25 to 30 minutes until the potatoes are golden.:hello: :j0 -
Make Cullen Skink with the smoked haddock. Just dice some potatoes and plenty of carrots, add an onion, boil together. Add the fish and then flake it. Mash everything together, and then add a tin of evaporated milk before serving. It needs to be kept in the fridge if you're going to eat it the next day - and it freezes well too.
There are loads of different recipes for it online. Some of them use cream, but it's very good with the evaporated milk.0
