PC World Laptop Problem????

I bought a E I Systems laptop for the daughter for Xmas. (Actually bought on 21/12/07). Whilst booting it up the other day a message came up saying that the "operating system cannot be found".

I took it back to PC World (being only 3 months old) and the assistant had a play with it, then said that it would have to be sent back to the manufacturers to be checked out.

Just had a phone call from the store now, telling me that they will have to order recovery disks and that I will be charged for them and for the cost of installing them.

Surely, the laptop is under some kind of warranty???? I didn't take the extra warranty out with PC World, but surely 3 months is still ok to take it back???

Anyone any advice??
Thanks

the majority of new laptops dont come with recovery media now and when you turn the machine's on they should ask you to create said media

Just had a phone call, they are now saying that it is a hard drive problem, so it will be fixed under the warranty.

    Should think so too!!!!

you should ask for compensation for the hassle

the nevre of them trying to rip people off when the item in questioon is faulty

also what happened to all your stuff on the hard drive - its is probably lost now but you should get them to data recover it if they are going to replace the drive and they should cough up the cost themselves.
  • Still, once you get the laptop back you should make your own set of recovery disks (it's part of the setup when the laptop is new). Then you can avoid the problem in future and will only cost you a couple of blank CD's.
