Windows Mobile Devices? Iphone? Duno what to use!

Hi guys

I have a situation and I hope someone with better knowledge than me (most people on this topic) can help.

I have a need to have the internet available whilst being mobile. I've looked at the iphone, seen some bad, some good reviews. Then I read there are other Windows Mobile devices? Are these (whatever they are) internet capable?

Anyone any help, advice, etc.
Thanks

    iphone is overpriced imo.

I've been using the LG KU990 for around 6 months now, and its a real nice little handset. 3" touchscreen is gorgeous, 5mp camera is brilliant, and in full HSDPA mode the internet is blazingly quick :)
get some nice deals on it now as well.

yup lots of mobile devices are itnernet capable, my personal phone, O2 XDA, or rather an HTC P3300, internet, phone, PDA, GPS with tom tom, everything in one place. I also have a blackberry, 3G, internet, email sync'd to work blah blah blah. Many many phones will do internet, but just might not be windows mobile or apple powered, a lot are simbian like (i think) the excellent nokia N95.

It all depends what you wanna access internet for, remember it's a small screen and the browsers typically are not compatible with the latest whizzy flashy stuff you'd expect on Internet Explorer at home.

If you need something more compatible then a notebook and a 3g modem is the way to go.

I just need to be able to go to a site, like this, and log in. Not much else really.
    Thanks for advice

best advice is to go to a phone shop and ask them if you can test out the internet access. It's fun as a novelty and some sites that you have to use are great but as a social connection device, it's well a pain in the what nots. I've had mobile internet for some years and I tend to limit surfing to mobile (phone) directories and email clients. Have a play and see what you would be happy with. All WM devices will be similar but get to play with the input method if you are doing anything more than reading websites (ie sending messages or inputting text), apple and nokia will be slightly different. Witha new contract you can probably get just about enough data for free, but if you are streaming media 24/7 look to pay hundreds a month for a contract.

I'm just about to trial the latest vodafone high speed connection but that is only available to a PC/USB ad on device for my notebook, however 8Mb whereever I am sounds like fun :-) Normally we get to play with these things free, but IIRC the last all you can eat domestic rate for data was about £100 a month, then overseas it's capped at 200Mb or similar. With phone companies though you get what you negotiate for.

The best phone I've ever had was an o2 XDA II... far superiour in my opinion to the iphone. Unfortunately I replaced this with a nokia n95, but thats a whole different story.
If the iphone was £100 cheaper, and had 3g support, then it would be worth considering. As it is, the XDA or similar has fast anywhere internet access, unlike the iphone, and still has huge support... take the playstation emulator for example..
