Eviction costs tax deductable?
op
I recently had to evict a tenant in my rented house. I did it completely by the book (learned a lot along the way!). It cost me £800 pounds (solicitors fees, court fees, bailifs fees etc) and took 9 months. Is this an allowable expense against tax?
TIA

of course it is - well done you for persevering - you do know that next time you can do it all yourself ? if you join national landlords association they will talk you thru every form that you need to complete again, and their joining fee is ALSO tax deductible !!
appearing in small claims court is really terribly "ordinary" a couple of tables, the judge in a suit - very informal - as you now know - its all in the preparation.0 -

Thanks for that. The reason it took so long was that I tried to do it myself to begin with. Could I have got it more wrong? Nope. I know MUCH more now. I hope to not have to do it again!something missing0
