Medical check

I suffer from severe anxiety & depression i have been on benefits for about 6months i get income support & low rate disablity.

Today i had a phone call from someone claiming ot be acting on the behalf of the dwp
saying that i need to make a appointment with them to update my medical records.

The place they want me to go is over 30 miles away i dont drive my mum cant get me there. I cant take public transport because of my anxiety what do i do?

If i called them back would they be able to make a nearer appointment or would they get someone to come to me?

Also what happens with the medical record update appointment?.

Ring them and tell them of your difficulties getting there. They are able to arrnge home visits.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

Unless there is a Medical Services centre nearer to you than the 30 miles you would have to go to that centre, you would usually be contacted about going to the centre nearest to you anyway. If you cannot attend it is possible to have a home visit, but you would need a letter from your GP to say that you cannot attend the centre. The appointment is assess if you are still entitled to Incapacity Benefit/Income Support.
