I am nearly 25 years old. I have been on the Pill since i was 15. So thats ten years i have been on the pill for! should you have a break from the pill?
And i am wanting to start a family at end of year, how do you come off the pill? Do you need to see the doctor first or is it just ok to finish your last packet and stop taking them?
Thanks mariagti:o

personally i just stopped taking it.
Takes a while for your hormones to settle back down tho':heartpulsOnce a Flylady, always a Flylady:heartpuls0 -
I think they recommend that you see a doctor if you're planning on starting a family, I never bothered though and just came straight off the pill. If you're still trying 6 months later then I'd go...
It is possible to fall in your first month though, and as jinky says hormones will be up in the air for a bit.0 -
With my first son i finished the packet i was on then didn't start a new one - i was pregnant within the first month!!!!
With my second son i finished the packet i was on then didn't start a new one - it took me 13 months to get pregnant!!
I wouldn't worry - just stop taking it but be prepared that you could be pregnant by the end of the mont - eek!!!
I think it is more important for you to be taking folic acid tablets which you should take three months before you start trying.

why is that naughty? Many 15 year olds dont bother with pill or condoms and get pregant,i dont see anything wrong on going on the pill at 15. I wasnt sexually active until i was 17, but was put on the pill by my doctor for having very heavy periods that lasted 8 days.Make £5 a day JAN £121/175 FEB £283/175:jWeekly Grocery budget of £35! I've been on the pill for 13 years now and as I have always been on a low dose pill (microgynon) my GP says that there's no reason why I need a break (unless I wanted to start a family.)
I was concerned too at having been on the pill for over 10 years but i was advised that it was OK.
In reply to CHuckles1066, I know a number of women who were placed on the pill at an earlier age early because of it's ability to reduce period pain (one of the reasons I was put on it in the first place, though I was older when I started.)0 -

Too much information; I was just going to have a bowl of chunky tomato soup but I've gone right off the ideaYou'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky
Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.0 -
