nano or ordinary ipod?

I have decided to buy myself an ipod but know very little about them! I can get an 80gb ipod from Boots (I have a staff discount card) for £135 but can't get a nano from them so will have to pay about £128 for one of those. I want to use the ipod/nano for talking books as well as for music and don't know which I would be better to get. I have also heard that the nano's are better quality than the bigger ipods but otherwise I know nothing about them. Also can I use my daughter's itunes with my ipod when I get it?
Sorry to sound thick but hope someone can give some advice.

I have a 160GB ipod, my wife the 8GB nano, she also has the shuffle.
I like to carry all my music and podcasts, with a 160GB I can and dont have to be selective. My wife likes the small size of the 8GB and it's solid state(i.e. no hard drive to damange if you drop it whilst running), and she has the shuffle for the gym/running.
They are all great devices with a brilliant user interface. I don't agree with apples marketing strategies, but for me they are just the best MP3 player.
The wikipedia site has a good description about them all with comparisons of battery life and such things, suggest a good read of that to help you decide what is best for you.

As an extra feature, if you are into running or walking, for £20 you can get the nike+ attachment which tells you how far you have gone etc, this works with the nano only. I love it.
I have a nano, and am surprised how quickly I have filled the 4gb, so def get the 8gb if you go for a nano.
I also have a creative zen, and IMHO, ipods are much better.
You will be able to use your daughter's itunes, it will recognise your ipod as a different device.
ps John Lewis usually have some kind of code around which gives you £20 or £15 off £100 spend, which would bring your nano price down. They are also £10 off at Amazon at the mo.0 -

The nike+ attachments are £19 in the apple shop, or £20 in John Lewis if you are ordering online. They fit into the bottom of a special nike+ shoe, but if you don't wear/want/can't afford those shoes (like me), you can buy little pouches online or from running shops which you tie in with your laces, like the electronic tags in races. It has a distance/time/calorie counter, and a 'power track' function where you press the middle button for your special power song to come on when you're at a low ebb! Every so often a voice tells you how far you've gone.
Sorry to the OP for going off-topic x0 -

I have had just about every ipod going, and to be honest, the 8gig nano, does the job just nicely. The touch is great.
1600 odd songs is just fine for normal use, and nike+ thingy is superb. All hail the Moyesiah.0
