If its something I have served to my children previously and they have eaten then I would let them do without. But if its a new recipe I'd make them a sandwich or something as everyone has a right to dislike something new

We sometimes get this too with our little ones, and one way we get them to eat is to 'tempt' them with a little treat if they eat up. Doesn't have to a chocolatey/sweet treat, could be anything, it works for us. Can totally empathise with you, very often cooking up lovely, healthy meals is time consuming yet satisfying and it is so frustrating when you are met with 'no thanks'!

    Good luck!

Did you taste it? I wouldnt make my kids eat anything that I wouldnt enjoy eating too....having said that tho I certainly wouldnt let them have chocolate instead - I'd be temped to go for something boring like bread & butter or plain cheese sandwiches - something they will eat but not as nice as what you've offered.

I totally agree with person who said did you taste it first.
With older kids, ask them to try something whilst holding their nose and saying to themselves this tastes nice ~ as an experiment ~ and see if they taste a difference. It works with my 10 year old grandaughter. They usually find it funny

Must admit I cant remember any of mine doing that. However what my mother, and I in turn, did was call it something else to make it sound exciting. It works great with wee ones, I,ve made cowboy pie, clown pie, and pink potatoes (using a drop of beetroot juice) for princess pie. I believe I even wore a cowboy hat on one occasion.

    Hi
I'm afraid I was a cruel mother, I'd let them starve though I wouldn't serve it for the next meal.

I'd not buy the shaped pasta it tastes funny anyway.. taste it yoruself. is it rank or is it edible?

If it is edible I'd have them eat it.. defintiely no chocolate or sweets that is a certainty.

If they are hungry later before bed I'd do them toast or cereal there is no way on this earth they'd be getting a different cooked meal!!

If there is a new ingredient particularly if it has altered the texture, I wouldn't be too hard on them.

I am always giving my two new or unusal foods and sometimes they are not keen. I think it is important to emphasis just because they didn't 'enjoy' it this time doesn't mean they won't enjoy it next time.

I would give them soemthing basic as an alternative though such as a bit of toast.

Be positive and say things like now your body is used to how it tastes you will like it more next time you try it
