having gone into my local tesco i went to purchase a camera at £65, the assistant came back and said they was out of stock, she phoned another branch on the other side of town who had some left. so she asked them to reserve one for me. got to the other store and went to the desk, the assistant got the camera out, scanned it and said thats £129.99 then please  ..
i explained it wasnt that much at other tesco, he checked the system, even rang the other tesco to get there price, said sorry nothing he can do about it. i asked if they could match it as otherwise it was a wasted trip, i said i wouldnt mind if it was a different company but its not its the same, he went off to speak to the manager who came back with him and said sorry nothing they can do
1 hour wasted, no camera, gutted m00nie......

That's poor. And to be honest, just the sort of thing that I have come to expect from Tesco. Complain to the store that sent you there and complain to head office. Send them a petrol bill too and a bill for your time0

I've noticed a discrepancy in prices between stores too, which really annoys me as we're equi-distance from two Tesco stores (which are the closest supermarkets anyway to us). One bottle of Tesco Finest Chenin Blanc - £3.79 and in the other store a day later £4.99 and NEITHER of them were on offer, nor was it "offer change over day"!
There are many more discrepancies that I've noticed, but the wine one really got me.

I have seen this before and in some cases it does seem that different stores can have different offers on - damned annoying when it happens. It was actually very good of the CS person to phone for you because I generally find they won't. Write to them and say that you are very disappointed by this and would ask if they could see their way to allowing you to purchase the camera at the advertised price in the first store, even if for no other reason than a goodwill gesture.
The ultra interesting thing though is that if the second store did not have it on offer when it should have does that mean you get it for free?
