food poisoning

Howdy

I have just been for a meal and my food was fine, my wifes food was ok or so we thought, she had brie and steak sandwich and she thought the brie tasted a bit farm like, she carried on eating she felt a bit dodgy so we paid up and left - i told them as we paid that i thought the brie was off. they said they would check, we just wanted to leave and left it at that.

driving away my wife started feeling real ill nd ws almost sick, so i went back in and asked for a refund on the 1 meal - they refused. I felt this was disgusting:mad:!

i paid my visa delta debit card. is there anyway forward for me to get my money back - wasnt sure where to put this post!

cheers in advance

Has she been sick, or does she just feel sick?

If you believe that she has food poisoning, you need to contact your local Environmental Health department. They will not be able to get your money back, but they will investigate your complaint.

The symptoms of food poisoning take several hours to manifest themselves; I know from personal experience

I don't think it would be the meal thats making her feel sick as I don't think you can get ill that quickly. It takes hours to pass through you.

You said as soon as you drove away she felt sick. so this wouldn't of even been half an hr?

Why do you think you would be able to dispute this payment? Did they hold a gun to your head and make you pay?

Well the NHS website also says smoking is bad for your health but there are thousands of octogenarians who've smoked for 70+ years who'll tell you that's crap advice.

Don't believe everything you read on websites! Food poisoning doesn't materialise that quickly.

Brie can taste a bit 'farmy' if it's made with winter milk, as most brie will be about now. The silage that the cows eat comes through in the cheese flavour - that's why a good cheese shop should tell you whether a cheese is 'summer' or 'winter'.

I'm not disputing that your wife is feeling ill, but it's unlikely to be food poisoning from that meal if she felt ill during eating it - even Campylobacter, one of the 'fastest' kinds of food poisoning, tends to take longer than that. Not being rude, but are you sure it's not something she's eaten at home or even last night? I've worked in catering myself and it's more common for people to poison themselves at home and not realise it than it is for them to get instantly ill from eating something in a restaurant - if the food was *that* off that it would make you instantly ill, it would generally be visibly bad and wouldn't be something that you'd eat enough of to make you ill, IYSWIM. I wouldn't go disputing with the restaurant/cafe unless you're sure that it's not either a) something she's eaten at home or b) a bug of some sort, which has just happened to manifest itself now.

Once upon a time both my husband and I got the runs before we even left the restaurant.SO glad we were eating out early, coz there were only two loos and a restaurant full of people.

Some things can make you feel really ill very quickly (I know from experience), especially if you have a delicate constitution.
