Help! Need to print Word doc in black, won't let me as out of coloured ink?!

Argh, please help!
I have an Epson Sylus C44 UX printer, which I occasionally use. It was very low/out of black ink, so I just changed the cartridge to print an important doc out. Now it's refusing to let me print out my doc as it keeps telling me the coloured ink is empty. I don't have a replacement one of these, as I very rarely print in colour, so I can't just change it.
It's just a Word doc in black ink I want, but I can't override the computer telling me it's out of couloured ink and just make it print in black.
I tried removing the colour cartridge; replacing the empty cartridge,
going into advanced print options and selecting 'Black Ink Only', and going into advanced printer options and selecting Black Ink only as a 'Custom Setting'.
Can anyone please help as I need this doc now and am so frustrated with the *&$£Q$%^& thing I'm soon going to throw it out the "£$^%& window!!!
TIA!

This really bloody annoys me: very common now: will refuse to print in b/w just because the color has run out, and vice-versa :mad:BLOODBATH IN THE EVENING THEN? OR PERHAPS THE AFTERNOON? OR THE MORNING? OH, FORGET THIS MALARKEY!

Hi,
if you need it printed today, copy on to disc, and nip round to a mate, or if you can wait until tomorrow, take it into your local library and get it printed for about 10P.0
