how to go wireless?

I have broadband provided by virgin and i would like to go wireless, i have an old bt roater (wireless) and a roater i used in ireland(wireless as well), virgin provided me with their own one-not wireless and i want to use my laptop in all rooms in the flat-its just more convenientg with a small child, please help
i am a computer newbie so i have no idea how to go around that

Ok your Virgin modem should have a network cable comig out of it. Plug that into your wireless router and take it from there... saying that I;m not sure if your BT router will work with Virgin.

Personally I bought a TP-Link one for £20 and have it connected to my PC with a network cable and then wirelessly to the laptop.

When you say Virgin, is this their cable service or their ADSL service over a BT line?

If cable, then you'll need a cable router, these can be picked up from the likes of Broadbandbuyer, Broadbandstuff, eBuyer, Dabs, PCWorld, eBay and even Virgin Media's online shop itself.

Virgin Media are currently giving away cable routers if you are on 2Mbit or 4/10Mbit you just need to upgrade to the next product up and you get a free router, you have to remain on the new package for 12 months otherwise you'll be charged £40, if on 20Mbit you can pay £7.50P&P and get the router.

This router can be bought elsewhere for around £30.
