Made A Offer How Long do I have to wait ?

HI all

i made an offer of 150K , for a house which is priced at 154K , i gave the principle mortgage agreement and solicitors details anyways i did not hear back from them for about 2 weeks so i phoned up and asked about it but they said the sales team was busy and they would call back, no called backed so i phoned them the next day and they said the same thing , i was then getting fed up it so i did not phone them again, two days later they called , the agents said the offer has been passed on to the seller who is considering it but there is also an other offer from another buyer and they will let me know which the seller picks by the next day , 4 days later still no call , what do think i should do? i really like the house but i have seen another on the same road but i prefer to get the one i made an offer on. basically i want the estate agents to tell me yes or no so that i can move on and put in offer on another house .

any suggestions?

thanks

just move on... if they agent/vendor are like this at offer stage, imagine how the whole process could go !!!!

Wow! Three weeks to hear back from them? When I bought houses in the past I had the EA chasing me. I suggest you call the EA and complain about the level of service.
Moreover, I personally think that the vendor has probably accepted another offer and is using you as backup (e.g. if the other buyer doesn't get a mortgage or something). If you really want the house, contact the EA and demand an answer within 24 hours. Otherwise, forget about it and move on.

If I was you I would make an offer on the other place, don't sit around waiting for them to get back to you. We waited about 10 days before our offer was accepted..they were always 'thinking about it' and it is very frustrating, especially when you've made a good offer!

i if you want the house, i would send a 'last chance' emali / fax to the agents, giving 24hrs for decision, ivo delays so far.. also, as you have (or not..?) another better property that you may take instead, time is of the essence!

lts see if they really want the business.

Thanks for the replays i am gonna use the idea of the fax/e-mail asking them to give me a replay within 24 hours because i don't want to sit around waiting when i could put on a offer on the other house on the same road.

    thanks
