IT CHANGED THE SOUND of music when it came out in 1996. Suddenly, bands were so over, and musicians indulged their incipient Asberger’s by retreating to their sheds with acoustic guitars and a knapsack of samples to follow the route Beck Hansen had indicated.
That none of them – your Eels, Merzes, Simple Kids – quite scaled these heights is understandable. Odelay is in a class of one: the sampleadelic psych-folk-hip-hop record in excelsis. And here it is again, all tricked up with a Thurston Moore / Dave Eggers sleevenote, a bunch of B-sides, and two previously unreleased tracks, while the scribbled-over sleeve adds an extra post-modernist frisson to a record that at the time came off as the last word in po-mo, mix-and-match, history-is-bunk musical mischief-making.
And you could score one of 10 we have to give away.

Odelay album opener The Devil’s Haircut cops the fuzztastic riff from which killer ’60s tune?
a) I Can Only Give You Anything by Them
b) I Can See For Miles by The Who
c) I Can Hear The Grass Grow by The Move
Don’t forget to include your name and address. Closing date is April 14.
