I have a Pioneer 108 and can't fault it. The 108 is quite old now though, think the latest out is the 110 and if its as good as all its predecessors then it should be a top buy. The 110 is £38.99 on bigpockets in assorted colours (black or white) but they have loads more on there, starting at £26.99 for a philips with DL.

Have a look at bigpockets and see which one suits your needs

The LG drive is the GSA4163B. If you don't need to do DVD-RAM, you could consider the NEC 3540- or wait for the new drives that will be coming out in the next month or so.

The LG GSA 4163 is generally seen as the best. I've got the NEC 35xx which is also very good, although second to the LG. The Pioneer 109 is good too but not as good as the above two.

I just found the LG GSA4163sb (non DVD RAM) for £31.71 and the LG GSA4163B(with DVD-RAM) for £35.99 at PC world and available for instore pickup. If I have any problems then I can atleast just pop into the shop rather than online hasle...

I think I will go for the one without DVD RAM...

DVD-RAM is a re-recordable format that came out a long time before +RW or -RW. It's the best format if you're going to be repeatedly rewriting, editing etc., but the discs generally only work in other DVD-RAM drives- you couldn't put them in a normal DVD player for example.
