Egg money card credit limit?

Hi, I currently have a barclays student credit card (finished uni last year) with a £250 limit  Have always paid the balance off in full every month so never earned any interest on it.

I need to buy some flights now however and not too fussed on using my debit card as the website (southalltravel) doesnt look too hot. As I need more credit I thought I may as well try getting a cashback card as I always repay the amount in full. Looking at the egg money credit card - how much credit do they give you or does it depend on your circumstances? Not really too sure how the credit limit thing works!

Cheers

Well before you go any further FIND out why.
Go to the Experian web page register and have a look at your credit score.
Read Martin's articles on credit scoring ,it is likely that it is something simple like being on the electoral register with your council, they may not have a updated home address for you etc.It could be you just don't earn enough or that you haven't been in regular employment.
If this is your first card you may have selected badly try a regular card say MBNA A&L or Virgin,Egg have become more selective recently with the credit crunch,it is like trying for Amex while your a student your gonna get turned down.
Get cracking now and sort it out, or you can leave it forget about it and in 15 years time when you your wife and four kids are rejected for a DFS sofa your'll still be wondering why!
It is probably to do with your address details.

I got a normal egg card 1st then only applied for an egg money card a couple of months ago.

It may be that you don't have enough of a credit history for that card yet.

Try applying for their normal egg card instead.

My egg card was only the 2nd one that I applied for and had. The 1st was a capital one classic card that only ever had a £200 limit and as they always refused to up the limit even after I had it for a year and a half. never had a late payment or anything!!

Got my egg one and straight away had a £3500 limit... almost fell of my chair!

Why do people keep saying this fob off "check experian file", means nothing, these companies just cherry pick who they want, I havent got any defaults or ccj's or missed payments and all of my 11 financial accounts on experian are squeaky clean, tried every card company you can think of and I cannot get a card, I wanted a 0% deal but with no such luck, so it looks like I am stuck with capital one for now.
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

Thanks for the replies guys, only reason I wanted an egg money card is because of the cashback really. I might try for an egg standard card as suggested by silkglade I think, but if I want one purely for extra credit limit I could probably try someone else first. It could actually be a problem with the electoral register or something tho, I lived in uni house for 3 years then moved back home with my parents.

When it asks how long I have been living at this address (my parents house) do I just put however long its been since finishing uni? Or all my life minus 3 years?
