Cheapest G + E for benefits
Options
My M in Law currently lives in a 3 bedroom house on her own. She is 57 (so just under the Staywarm limit)
She has storage heaters and cannot afford to replace them with central heating.
She is disabled and claims disability living allowance (+ a few others)
She is currently paying approx. £50 per month from British Gas for both Gas and Electricity. I am going to do the comparisson again but last time I did it British Gas were cheapest.
The house is up for sale and she hoped she would have sold the before winter, but it looks like she will have to spend another one there.
Does anybody know if there is a similar scheme to Staywarm for people on benefits?
Or any suggestions for how to cut the bills? (Other than moving house, installing central heating or not putting the heating on which are not an option at the moment)

However - she might qualify for a "Warm Front" insulation grant. Not to be confused with "Warm Front Plus", which is aimed at people over 60 - "Warm Front" is aimed at people under 60 who have disabilities or children. Contact the local authority for more information.0 -
