Is this worth persuing??
Hi
In Feb decided to switch my electricity from E On to British Gas (already supply my Gas) I made some investigation with all the useful sites, spoke to British Gas who said they could save me £200 per year!! I thought hmmm dont quite agree with that fig but heah i will give it a go. Went through all the changeover etc and when i queried my DD with them and said this does not reflect the saving i was adviced!!
Anyway persued further with their customer liason team etc who after 4 weeks of phone calls said that they could not trace the call and sorry but heah we cant save you that much and we can now transfer you back to E on etc............... So basically misold big time by British Gas and they couldnt care less!! Is it worth taking it any further with British Gas for their complete miselling of the dual fuel product??

Welcome to the forum.
If you speak to any of the Utility companies or Comparison networks they will always say they can save you money.
The reason is that all their operators work on commission so they will tell you what you want to hear in order to get you to change.
If you want to try it out, ring any of them and say I am spending, say, £70 a month and, after going through the motions of asking a few questions, you will get a cheaper DD quote.
The point to make is that your DD payment is absolutely meaningless. The only thing that matters is the price per kWh and the discounts they apply for Dual Fuel/payment method etc.
So you have not any hope at all of pursuing a claim unless you have in writing that they said they would charge xxp a kWh and their prices are higher.0 -
Hiya
Well i have totally lost faith in these comparison sites! I hve used the KWH for the year as a comparison and this was the information i gave to British Gas who then told me £200! Funny how ater 3 weeks they said they couldnt locate the phone call conversation i had with one of their advisors!!! I was then told a saving of £25 per year when i questioned them about it again! This is a scam and the utilities just tell out right lies to get you business!! Surley something should be done about it all! Why should BG be let off lightly when i have had the hassle of now going back to Eon because of their incompident sales team!0
