Warranty on Double Glazed Units

Hello everyone,
I was wondering if anyone knows how long a warranty is for sealed double glazed units. We purchased a house a couple of years ago and (The house was four years old) and we are noticing that some of the units are starting to break down. The date inside the unit is 03.02 which I assume is the time they were manufactured (March 02)
I think I could source the manufacturer but I think they were fitted by a local builder. Would this invalidate the warranty?
Also, last request, is there a national independent body I could contact if necessary for advice.
Thank you for reading.

To the best of my knowledge there is no set time for units. Certain manufacturers used to warrenty for say 10 years, but this was not the norm. I've seen them gone after 2 years and still good after 20 years! I do happen to know some of it depends on the exact manufacturing process, if they are done in specialised dry conditions with hermetic seals for example.
I dont' know if the GGF (Glass and Glazing Federation) could advise more?

Warranties are either 5 or 10 years for units (I've always felt that 10 years should be standard for a well made unit).
But..................
Most warranties are only for the purchaser. Some companies will allow a transfer of the warranty when a house is sold, but not all of them.
Even if you could source the manufacturer of the unit, this may not help. A lot of companies buy their frames and units in. The contract (and warranty) would be with the fitting company, not the company that supplied the units to the fitting company.
Yes, an incorrectly fitted unit could certainly invalidate any warranty offered. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Hiya, just wanted to say "you will be lucky". We had our whole house kitted out with Purpose Made - then a couple of years into the 10 year warrenty the company went bust and so did our 10 year voucher
Best of Luck...If winter comes, can spring be far behind?

Sorry hit the thanks by mistake (meant to hit quote).
An insurance backed guarantee tends to stop the above happening. (it is certainly recommended above personal guarantees). How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Ours is 5 years for the sealed glass unit itself and 10 years for everything else.
We have an insurance backed guarantee too so that if the company goes under, we still have some redress if faults develop.0
