absiloute magic is the other one, the first edition print sells anything upto £400.00 with the second and third edition going for less. but yes they are very collectable and i'm lucky to own first editions on both books (which have been signed by the man himself) and i dont want to get rid of them. Its the red bound edition you want to get your hands on this is the first edition, you never know it could be tucked away in the corner of a old book shop or boot sale stall without the seller really knowing the value.
Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!
  • I wonder how many were released. Off to a couple of car boots at the weekend...here's hoping!

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/B000WWTRKU/ref=dp_olp_2/026-8138103-7527632 thought i would pick it up on ebay or amazon cheap...yer right!
Have any copies actually sold on Amazon for those prices though? Often there's a big difference between asking prices and prices customers will actually pay. Completed listings on eBay suggest it's worth about £100 - which is still far more than it cost new, so maybe a good investment for some of those who bought a copy at the time.

The sales ranking of 342,754 suggests there has been a sale in the past few months, but of course there is no knowing how much the book actually went for. There is always the possibility that there was one or two at a 1p that sold to shove the ranking up.

I know Paul McKenna doesn't like his books on eBay and anyone selling old self-books of his have their listings pulled....hope it's not the case for Mr Brown!

Paul McKenna is going to be busy then with over 250 current listings, looks like he's missed a few as there have been 700 sold in completed listings!

Think that may be a myth. Unless his name is a registered trademark, I don't think he'd have a lot of luck.

  • I don't know about Paul McKenna, but Derren Brown's name is actually a registered trademark, though I don't think he routinely prevents sellers from selling genuine copies of his books on eBay. His agents will report any listings they find using his name to sell other products (e.g. dodgy e-books claiming to teach buyers how to perform Derren Brown's tricks).

Having looked it up, Paul McKenna is also a trademark. So I guess he could get auctions stopped if he wanted to. However judging by the number completed auctions, it doesn't look like either of them do for legitimate copies of their books.
