he inadvertently got a ccj which we are giong to court on to clear as we never ever got any paperwork saying that he was being taken to court on a car issue. i wonder if we should wait for this to go to court or try and rebuild his credit rating already with one of the options martin talks about in this week's email. any ideas anyone? thanks in advance.

If your thinking of credit cards then CCJ's last about 6years on a credit card, Vanquis / Aqua / (unsure though) Captial One would be those to look out. However get a free Experian credit Report (you could recieve cashback of £6.50) and see if there is any other faults before applying for a creditcard or attempting to re-build your credit history.8,000 / 10,000 saved. Hi
Definitely get the CCJ issue sorted first.
It doesn't matter what you try to do to rebuild your credit rating, if there is a CCJ appearing on your credit file it's pretty much game over, and a six year wait til it disappears.
Get big things like that sorted first, then look at getting any data errors corrected, then start rebuilding.
Very best of luck,
