Overcharged By Management Company?!?

I'm selling my flat, and have been told by the management company of my apartment block that they are to charge me £250.00 (+VAT) for the paperwork to change to a new leasehold tenant! Is this overcharging in the same way as the mortgage overcharging situations recently? Any advice would be much appreciated.

When I've bought a leasehold place before, I as the buyer had to pay the transfer fee which was £80 seven years ago.
No idea what it should be now, or if you or the buyer should pay, but I hope that helps you.

I bought a place last summer and the management company charged me £12.50 for the transfer - not bad at all I thought.0

Buying is different from selling.
When selling, the buyers solicitors often nowadays send reams of questions to the management company and sometimes some of those questions need a professional to advise on (and they charge the management company).
I would ask them what the charge covers first.0 -
I'm not sure I understand your response, Kez?
Buying *is* different from selling, but the point is that if I as a buyer have to pay the leasehold transfer, then the OP as a seller should be aware that the cost might not need to be incurred by them, but by the buyer instead.
The OP said the cost was to transfer the lease to the new owner, and for their name to be on the paperwork.
There was no reference to the charge being for answering questions for the new buyer.
