Student Support Fund for FE college

I applied for help with childcare and books for a p/t course I am due to start in Sept

According to the student support team at the local college I had to find a nursery for my childand get them to fill in a form stating the cost of childcare etc

The earliest the forms could be submitted was the 1st of July- I submitted mine on the 2nd, took it in there in person as I dont trust the post, and about a fortnight later received a letter acknowledging that they were processing my claim. Since then I have heard nothing- I am now gettting worried as I am afraid that they will not sort it until Sept and I do not have the money to pay £35 per day for the nursery, plus my books etc

How long do these things generally take?.
