I Want a good new office chair a.s.a.p

I appreciate your concern. My back is the reason why I was looking at the more expensive Argos variety. As much as I need to look after my back, which has been good for a while after much physio and muscle strengthening exercise, I just can't afford to spend so much hard saved money on a chair. I've sat on some of these "uber-ergonomic" chairs at work. 1 guy here has 1 that costs £800. Trust me, it hurts to just sit on it. Feels very weird indeed. Whereas as my chair at work cost about £80 and it's never given me problems. However, my Viking freebee I believe is a totally different story!0

Yes, I realise it's a bit of a stretch to the old finances. Perhaps you could nip over to the benefits forum and see if there is anything you are entitled too under your circumstances. I know that years ago the DHSS or whatever it's called now used to do 'Social Loans' whereby you could take out a loan to be paid back via a percentage deducted directly from your wages. IIRC the criteria was that you had to be earning below a set amount and the loan amount was free. As I say I'm not sure if it's something still available but it might be worth checking out.I've sat on some of these "uber-ergonomic" chairs at work. 1 guy here has 1 that costs £800. That's probably because it was designed for the individual concerned? If it's not tailored to suit your body shape\style\seating position etc it will feel quite peculiar.Whereas as my chair at work cost about £80 and it's never given me problems.
Yes a friend of mine used to say the same thing, but then he used to frequent the local hospital 3 times a week to go sit in some kind of very hot bath that alleviated his various muscles, then he used to frequent a gym to do the same thing as well as stretching etc. That was up untill around 6 months ago when he convinced his boss to look into supplying him a decent office chair, now he goes to the gym twice a week to sit in their hot bath. Choosing such a luxury chair may not have the same effect on your health I admit, but apart from the cost, I'm sure it can't hurt. However, my Viking freebee I believe is a totally different story!
I must admit I'm suprised that your freebie was so bad, as the people in this forum: http://www.thedvdforums.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=502283 continually rave about the cheap viking chairs.
Perhaps you've just an odd shaped back\body
It could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.0 -
I seem to recall that somewhere in Birmingham there is a back shop specialising in chairs etc for bad backs. Not sure where it is but remember that Birmingham Uni used it to buy a chair for a colleague with a dodgy back. Plus they will let you try a few chairs until you find the perfect one.0
