Ipod/Itunes start-up question

First of all let me say im new to all this ipod itunes malarkey so please talk slowly and clearly:confused:

Ive brough a new ipod today (nano 4gb) ive charged it up through my computer and im now ready to go. I think ive installed it, after a couple of try's - ipod still pluged in to pc - dont think installed properly so unpluged from pc think its done it as it came up with message to restart pc (are you still with me?)

So now its restarted the pc and ive gone to itunes

firstly, my daughter has her ipod/itunes on this pc so when i go into itunes her list of music comes up, how can i get my list of music to come up seperately from her's?

did i neeed to instal itunes again if its already there?

can i put some of her tunes in my list?

I know these are basic questions and im sure i'll be back with a few more, but thanks for any help:D
My mind tends to wander............If found please return;)

I can spell...................I just cant type:confused:

hmm not one ive had to deal with.
what i do for my OH is she just has a playlist created with her music (from my library)
do you both have seperate user accounts on the pc?
if you do then all you have to do is tell ituneswhere you store your music
    edit>preferences>advanced>change
then browse to where your music is stored

as for adding music to your itunes then just drag and drop them into the itunes window and they will copy to your library
if you go into preferences and select sharing you can then share your library and vice versa on your pc(or a networked PC)
this will show as the itunes name in the left column
eg you would be in urbancookie1's library and if we shared a pc you would see custardys library in the side bar

If you just add your ipod to the existing itunes account (it will detect a new device and you will be prompted to give your ipod a name), you will have the same music on itunes as your daughter. You could put all of your songs onto a separate playlist if you wanted, and you could put any of her songs onto your ipod. Alternatively, I suppose you could set up a separate itunes account in your name. In our house, we all just use the same account.
